Comfort. Had to think about this one a bit. How am I comforted? What is comfort? Comfortable? I hadn’t considered it in a while. It seems I’ve been so occupied with everything (like writing a book!) I hadn’t taken much time for myself. I received a gift of an electric milk foamer for my anniversary and have been running high on lattes ever since. Great stuff if you need to get some work done!!
Ever try to set up a still life on comfort when you are jittery from a double shot espresso? Let’s just say I wasn’t so still!
Anyway, as the caffeine jitters wears off, I think carefully about it. The first thing that comes to mind is cozy blankets. I have several of the soft fluffy kind ready for a comfortable evening at home. I’ve been known to pile up a few with a heating pad underneath. Warm wraps in lovely colors to chase the chills away too. Soft light streaming through the window, definitely important.
As snow flakes fall outside my window I find it’s a comforting feeling. Maybe because the earth is getting it’s cozy blanket too.
My mind slowly wanders off… what kinds of things are comforting in a non-tangible sort of way?
A friend that you can completely be yourself with.
Warm conversation about the important things in life.
A genuine and sincere smile.
A long, swishy hug.
Being told “I love you.”
I’ve received much comfort in this way recently and decided that ‘Comfort’ will be my 2016 word. I am going to keep it in mind in an effort to be a comfortable person to be around. And to be the giver of those wonderful comforting things too.
Thanks to Kim Klassen for The Studio Online prompt ‘Comfort.’
Come to think of it. A home spa day might be comforting too!! Great idea Carol.
