copper sands washing over painted blue toenails
roses spilling head over heels down the hillside
creamy white hydrangeas slowly donning their pink coats
a straw hat with a soft blue scarf
stepping gingerly into a blackberry thicket
the sound of corn peeled in preparation for dinner
new potatoes you dug yourself
There is a slight chill in the air this morning.
We hold our breath in anticipation of summers arrival, then, in what seems like an instant, it is gone.
I can’t quite catch up with it… it escapes me. It’s as if I am two persons, one trying with all her might to fit in all the summer pleasures and the other, who is pleased to sit in the garden, the entire time, book in hand. Either way, in these very moments, I grasp summer’s essence, and hold on tight.
