Drama – Expressionist Painting and Conceptual Photography

Below are several of the images from the third and final phase of my winter 2018 passion project.

See phase one here and phase two here.

I set out to combine expressionist painting with portrait photography, an idea that I was first inspired to do a year ago. I have to say that a project of this type (one which takes a considerable amount of learning and experimentation) is exciting and fulfilling, not to mention a great way to spend a long winter.

I am happy with the result and it has lit a fire in me for digital mixed media. I am excited to see where it will take me!

In this final phase, I combined work that was expressly painted for this shoot and some additional light textures made using fabrics. The process is described in my previous post. The technique was developed further by weaving the textures and overlays behind and in front of the main image.
