Autumn needs no introduction.
After the ‘hazy, crazy days of summer’ we gladly welcome slow… calm… cozy. Fall is all about comfort. Snugly blankets, comfy sweaters, pears, apples, squash – the smell of a warm pie baking in the oven – there isn’t a whole lot more in life more comforting. Such a simple thing. Fall feels restful and secure. How wonderful that a season can do all of that!
Yesterday hubby walks in the door holding two pear tree sprigs with the cutest little wild pears from a long forgotten orchard. (Isn’t it awesome! I now have family members bringing me props!!) “Please bring me more!” I said. I was already set up for a shoot, the twigs and sprigs prompt from the ‘Studio Online.’
So much inspiration for an autumn still life. The combination of fruit, grasses, and an apron I made out of a blue/gray chambray worked perfectly together. We will call this the twigs and sprigs fall pear series. Too long?! OK, how about falling for fall!!
I shot these images on an overcast day with just enough light to create highlights. Kim Klassen’s new ‘rainyday’ Lightroom preset worked perfectly to push the them in a soft and moody direction. Makes you feel like curling up with a hot cider and a classic movie, doesn’t it?!
