Mindset for Lifestyle Modeling
Approach the session with a ‘no expectations’ mindset. It is a time to play, to go back to childhood fantasies and unfulfilled daydreams. Place yourself as a character in a scene, any scene. Let your imagination take the place of inhibition. Let the fear of how you look fall away and let the camera find your hidden beauty.
Try to move in a fluid fashion
Do not acknowledge the camera
You are a dancer and a dreamer
Allow emotion to come alive and find expression
You are perfectly imperfect
There is something that happens at a photo shoot. A communication takes place between you and the camera. The photographer is merely the medium by which the art reveals itself, a vehicle for inspiration.
Loose or slightly oversized garments
Solid colors in neutral tones, prints in small or soft colors
Blue, pink, or jewel tones only if they complement your skin tone
Barefoot, boots, flats
Do not wear:
Shiny fabrics that cling
Overly bright colors or large prints
Take a few minutes to watch this series of Youtube video from Jessica Kobeissi. Watch the ones that have the titles 3 (or 4) photographers shoot the same model.
Tons of fun!
