It happens quite unexpectedly. You walk into a place and are immediately smitten. The textures, the light, the vibe … all make you feel like you are in your happy place. When I walked into Seafolk Coffee I felt like I had come home. Heck, I want to live there! Of course, me and coffee, well that’s a no-brainer, but this is no ordinary coffee shop. Set in the center of Rockport, Maine, it overlooks the harbor and hosts a collective clientele of locals, creatives, and tourists alike.
A photoshoot at Seafolk Coffee with Keariel seemed like the perfect match. Owner Jacob Wienges was so hospitable … gave me run of the place and made us the perfect latte for the shoot.
We got talking to Mary Jo after the shoot, baker extraordinaire and chef for Seafolk. As we discussed flavor combinations, locally sourced ingredients, and foraged greens, my mouth watered for one of her delightful creations, specifically her homemade bagel with Asian flavors topped with wild garlic and microgreens. Super excited for my next visit … going to make sure I come hungry! This place will absolutely be on everyone’s ‘top place for coffee’ list and I can’t wait to come back. Open just a few weeks, it’s already creating a buzz.
